Urge Your Legislators to Stop Forcing Medicare/Medi-Cal Dual Eligibles Into Managed Care Plans

Due to advocacy on the part of the SFMS, CMA, and other stakeholders, the plan to shift Medicare/Medi-Cal “dual eligibles” into a managed care plan has been delayed. In his 2012 budget, Governor Jerry Brown proposed expanding the four county pilot project statewide. SFMS/CMA need your help to stop this expansion.

SFMS/CMA Oppose Expansion of Dual Eligible Managed Care Pilot Program

Governor Jerry Brown continues to push to move all “dual eligibles”—patients covered through both Medi-Cal and Medicare—into managed care. In his revised budget plan, the Governor proposes expanding the four-county pilot project to include eight counties. SFMS and CMA believe the pilot project as currently defined will lead to disruptions in care for the state’s neediest and sickest patients.

SB 1318 Health Care Worker Vaccination Bill Passes Senate with Bipartisan Support

SB 1318 (Wolk), which would require all health care workers in health care facilities, including physicians, to either receive the influenza vaccination or wear a mask in patient care areas during flu season, passed the state Senate today by a vote of 23 to 9.
