Outbreak of Foodborne Botulism in Sacramento Region: Delayed Identification of Some Patients

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), in collaboration with Sacramento County Public Health (SCPH) and neighboring county public health departments, has been investigating an outbreak of foodborne botulism associated with eating nacho cheese sauce served at the Valley Oak Food and Fuel gas station in Walnut Grove, Sacramento County.

Call for Nominations for the 2016 J. Elliott Royer Award in Neurology

The J. Elliot Royer Award recognizes two psychiatrists or neurologists, one academic and one community, active in the medical field in San Francisco, Alameda or Contra Costa counties who during the year have made the most significant contribution to the advancement of psychiatry or neurology. The award alternates each year between the specialties of Neurology and Psychiatry.

Call to Action: Urge Legislators to Vote No on AHCA!

The House of Representatives is expected to vote on the American Health Care Act (AHCA) soon. A bill that, if passed, could result in an estimated 14 million Americans losing their health care coverage in 2018 in addition to a projected cut of more than $800 billion to Medicaid over the next decade!
