16th Annual Developmental Disabilities Course: An Update for Health Professionals February 3, 2017 CME, Educational Event, UCSF CME, Developmental Disabilities 0 The 16th annual interdisciplinary conference celebrates informed health care for individuals with developmental disabilities, offering a unique update for primary care and subspecialty health care professionals and others who care for children, youth, and adults with developmental disabilities and complex health care needs. The 2017 conference continues to cover topics across the lifespan on a broad range of developmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorders and Down syndrome. Experts will continue the discussion of community living options and transforming systems of care for the 21st century for children and adults with Developmental Disabilities. The 2017 conference will feature special focus on the emerging topic of Zika virus infection and associated intellectual and developmental disabilities with subspecialists from infectious disease, developmental pediatrics, obstetrics, and environmental health. Cultural and social diversity and determinants of disability will be highlighted with special presentations on toxic stress and an exciting presentation of the FRAME Project by renowned fashion photographer Rick Guidotti. Policy updates on supportive decision making and self-determination within a broader social construct will continue. We are pleased to present cutting edge talks on psychopharmacology, intriguing research, Autism Spectrum Disorders, alternative therapies, and anxiety de-escalation and stress reduction for people with developmental disabilities.
