Last week's election saw new victories in that effort, including California's new tobacco tax. However, despite all the progress on some fronts, abuse of other problem substances, especially alcohol and prescription medications including opioids, remains at chronic crisis levels. What might this new report mean? SFMS members in Addiction Medicine have long been active in advancing treatment and prevention of addiction, including recognition of the subspecialty itself.
