The survey was conducted by Porter Research and commissioned by Navicure, a billing and payments services vendor. Respondents included billers and coders, practice administrators or billing managers, and practice executives. 67% of the respondents were from small practices with between 1 and 10 providers. According to the survey, 85% of respondents said they expect to be ready for the transition by October 1. However, 57% said they are not currently on track. 31% percent of respondents said that clinical documentation improvement and coding requirements were among the most challenging aspects of the transition. Meanwhile, 56% of respondents cited cash flow disruptions as their greatest concern. In addition, the survey found more than 35% of respondents had not yet conducted any end-to-end testing. Among those who had completed end-to-end testing, the survey found 60% reported positive results. According to the survey, “Organizations should begin end-to-end testing if they haven't already, especially knowing their major concern is the impact of cash flow from ICD-10”.
