Reminder: February 3 is the Registration Deadline for the AMPAC Candidate Workshop January 15, 2020 Events 0 2020 AMPAC Candidate Workshop As a reminder, spaces are still available for the 2020 AMPAC Candidate Workshop that will be taking place February 28 – March 1 at the AMA Office in Washington, DC. The workshop is targeted to AMA members, their spouses, residents, medical students and medical society staff who want to learn more about what it takes to be an effective candidate. The Candidate Workshop is designed to help you make the leap from the exam room to the campaign trail and give you the skills and strategic approach you will need to make a run for public office. At the Candidate Workshop, Republican and Democratic political veterans give you expert advice about politics and the sacrifices needed to mount a competitive campaign. You will learn: how and when to make the decision to run; the importance of a disciplined campaign plan and message; the secrets of effective fundraising; what kinds of media advertising are right for your campaign; how to handle the inevitable crises that emerge for every campaign; the role of your spouse and your family; and how to become a better public speaker. Get answers to your questions, and determine if running for public office is for you. NOTE: Faculty, materials and all meals during the meeting are covered by AMPAC. Participants are responsible for the registration fee ($250 for AMA Members / $1000 for non-members), airfare, and hotel accommodations at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill (AMA has secured a room block for a discounted rate). The registration fee is waived for residents and students, however, space is limited to four slots and the AMPAC Board will review and select qualified participants from the pool of resident and student applicants.
