SFMMS Delegates Attend 151st CMA House of Delegates in LA October 24, 2022 CMA, House of Delegates 0 From October 21-23, Delegates of the San Francisco Marin Medical Society (SFMMS) attended the annual House of Delegates of the California Medical Association (CMA) in Los Angeles to advance key policies to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities in San Francisco and Marin. This year's House of Delegates was particularly notable, for several reasons: Lawrence Cheung, MD, SFMMS Trustee to CMA, and SFMMS Past-President, was elected Vice-Speaker of House of Delegates, a key position in CMA leadership. Shannon Udovic-Constant, MD, SFMMS Trustee to CMA, Chair of the CMA Board of Trustees, and SFMMS Past-President, declared her candidacy for CMA President-Elect. Roger Eng, MD, received the 'Doctor of the Year' award from the Solo and Small Group Practice Forum of the CMA, for exemplifying the values of the profession of compassion, integrity, and outstanding clinical practice. George Fouras, MD, was elected Secretary Treasurer of CALPAC, the statewide Political Action Committee of the CMA Kim Newell Green, MD, SFMMS Past-President, became SFMMS' newest Trustee to the CMA Board. And SFMMS contributed more money to the statewide Political Action Committee than any other delegation, winning the coveted 'Victory Bell.' During HoD, Delegates participated in major issues debates related to workforce and health systems reform, and received key briefings related to reproductive and mental health.
