SFMMS & SMLMA Honors Physician Wellness Leaders at the Physician Wellness EXPO & Dinner May 8, 2024 Local Events, Physician Wellness, SFMMS Member Events 0 Eleven local physicians were presented with awards during the Physician Wellness Leadership Awards Dinner on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Sheraton Sonoma Wine Country in Petaluma. The awards program, sponsored by the Sonoma-Mendocino-Lake Medical Association (SMLMA) in collaboration with the San Francisco Marin Medical Society (SFMMS), recognizes individual physicians and medical organizations that have made significant, impactful contributions to physician health and well-being. Wendy Davies, Executive Director of SMLMA said, “This program impacts everyone in our communities. This awards event brings together like-minded professionals and organizations, creating opportunities for collaboration that encourage physician self-care, job satisfaction, and community connection. We all benefit when our physicians are healthy and engaged.” Nominations were sought for physicians practicing in the Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake, Marin, and San Francisco areas. A distinguished jury of Bay Area wellness experts (Drs. John Chuck/Chief Wellness Officer at CNU College of Medicine; Mickey Trockel/Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine; and Paul DeChant/Wellness Speaker and Coach with Advancing Organizational Well-Being), Conrad Amenta, Executive Director representing SFMMS, and Wendy Davies representing SMLMA, made awards in six categories of wellness achievement. In addition to the wellness program awards, awardees were honored with certificates of recognition from the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors, the California State Assembly, and the California State Senate. The evening’s program was focused on self-care and healthy lifestyles with a reception and wellness expo followed by a nutritious “Food as Medicine” dinner. Prior to presentation of the awards, California Medical Association President Dr. Tanya W. Spirtos and keynote speaker Dr. John Chuck addressed the group. Congratulations to SFMMS Members, Dr. Linda Clever who was presented with the Lifetime Achievement in Wellness Leadership Award, Dr. Emily Silverman, who was presented with the Rising Star in Wellness Leadership Award, Dr. Fayola Edwards-Ojeba, who received the Individual Physician Wellness Leadership Award, and Dr. Jessie Mahoney as well as Dr. Mihal Emberton who were nominated for awards.
