SFMS, CMA, and UCSF Celebrate the Future of Medicine and New Scholarship Launch June 7, 2013 CMA, Medical Student, SFMS Member Events, UCSF UCSF Scholarship, CMA Scholarship 0 As part of a state-wide strategy to support future leaders in health care, the CMA has established a new scholarship that will be awarded annually to an outstanding UCSF medical student with an interest in health policy. SFMS members with UCSF affiliations (alumni and faculty) joined Dean Sam Hawgood and Vice Dean Catherine Lucey of UCSF to show their support for this new partnership at last night’s California Medical Association Scholarship at UCSF launch event. To date, more than $40,000 has been pledged towards the scholarship. A California Senate Proclamation from Senator Mark Leno helped marked the occasion. SFMS would like to thank our event co-hosts Drs. Steve Follansbee and Rick Wolitz, the CMA/SFMS Scholarship Advisory Group, and special guests CMA President Paul Phinney, Dean Sam Hawgood, and Vice Dean Catherine Lucey for their support of this event and this new partnership between the California Medical Association and the UCSF School of Medicine. With your help, today’s students will become leaders who shape the health policies of the future. Click here to donate towards the CMA Scholarship at UCSF.
