SFMS Member a Candidate in June DCCC Election

Justin Morgan, a SFMS member and family physician with the San Francisco Department of Health’s outpatient clinics, is a candidate running for one of 24 seats on the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee (DCCC) in the June 5 statewide primary election.

Justin is a resident of the Fillmore neighborhood, President of San Francisco’s African American Medical Association, a clinical instructor at UCSF and UC Davis, a member of the African American Democratic club. He is a community activist with over 10 years of experience providing primary care for low income families as well as working in the community on issues of health advocacy and youth mentorship.

The DCCC is the leadership body of the San Francisco Democratic Party responsible for voter registration and engagement and endorsing candidate and ballot initiatives. With no African Americans elected to the DCCC since 2006 and voter turnout higher in the county jail than in all of San Francisco, Justin is running to increase party participation and the representation of people of color in Democratic Party leadership. He is the only African American male and the only physician seeking election in his district representing the neighborhoods on the eastern half of San Francisco.

Note: SFMS does not endorse any DCCC or SFGOP candidates. However, it’s SFMS PAC policy to inform membership of any SFMS members who are running for DCCC or SFGOP so members can decided whether or not to make individual contributions to their colleague's campaign.
