Thank you for answering the call for physician support October 16, 2017 Local Events HHS, Marin 0 Dear SFMMS Members and Friends, On behalf of Marin County Health and Human Services, I want to thank all of you who offered to serve the nearly 700 wildfire evacuees who sheltered at the Marin County Civic Center this past week. For the past seven days and nights Marin HHS, along with volunteers from the San Francisco Marin Medical Society and the Marin Medical Reserve Corps continuously staffed a high functioning clinic within the shelter at the Civic Center Exhibit Hall. The clinic served a vital role in the community that formed among evacuee families. Thanks to you their health needs were met with timely, compassionate and high-quality care. Yesterday, evacuation orders in parts of Sonoma and Napa Counties were lifted and shelter residents returned north, mostly to their own homes. The County shelter has closed. Clinicians who signed up for future shifts have been notified to stand down. Your responsiveness to our call is reassuring and inspiring. I encourage Marin clinicians in SFMMS who wish to remain engaged as potential disaster responders to join the Marin Medical Reserve Corps. With Gratitude, Matt Matthew Willis, MD MPH Public Health Officer County of Marin Department of Health and Human Services SFMMS Board Member Comments are closed.
