Transdisciplinary Fellowship in Primary Care Research Opportunity February 25, 2018 Resident/Young Physicians Fellowship 0 What is it? A full-time, postdoctoral, mentored research program in Primary Care Research that includes an appointment as a National Research Service Award (NRSA) Fellow at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). We accept clinicians and non-clinicians (e.g., social scientists, public health professionals, and others with doctoral degrees) into this 2-3 year fellowship program funded by Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Who should Apply? US Citizens and permanent residents with MDs, PhDs or other clinical or nonclinical doctoral degrees who seek to become leaders in the field of Primary Care Research. We seek to recruit a diverse and synergistic cohort to engage in team learning and collaboration across priority areas. We will: Provide excellent educational opportunities and mentorship to our Scholars; Stimulate mindful collaboration among Scholars and Faculty to produce innovative and successful primary care research projects; Develop a rich transdisciplinary intellectual environment that integrates diverse disciplinary perspectives, supports wide-ranging perspectives on primary care, and fosters a sense of adventure and innovation in support of rigorous and creative research. Prepare graduates to contribute meaningfully and serve as leaders of the primary care research enterprise in the United States. Objectives: Recruit talented and intellectually and culturally diverse NRSA Scholars who are committed to the field of primary care research. We will recruit postdoctoral scholars from several disciplines, such as clinicians, social scientists, public health professionals, informaticians/data scientists, and other domains. Deliver a thoughtful curriculum that prepares our Scholars to move forward as leaders in the field of primary care research. Model the highest ethical standards for research by our faculty and pass such ethics on to our Scholars. Contribute to the scholarly atmosphere at Case Western Reserve University by facilitating meaningful interactions for the Scholars with staff, faculty, and other fellows from a variety of disciplines. Provide superior mentorship to our Scholars, including: Opportunities to work with mentors with complementary academic perspectives, Leadership and career development, Model high level team functioning as a faculty and regarding how we mentor our fellows to conduct research, Development and execution of an independent research project that both leads to peer-reviewed publication and serves to move forward our Scholars research career. Research projects may be fully independent, but will frequently be independent components of larger research efforts organized by faculty/mentors. Contribute to leadership in primary care research through the research projects completed by our Scholars. Launch program alumni to successful careers as leaders in Primary Care Research.
